CASE NAME:  D.M.  v.  COUNTY OF ORANGE

CASE DESCRIPTION:  Plaintiff, D.M., was suffering from a mental disorder when he was held in the Orange County jail on trespassing charges.  While in the jail cell plaintiff was slashed approximately 30 times by another cell mate with a razor blade.

CASE TYPE:  Personal Injury- Premises Liability-Negligence

SETTLEMENT: The parties agreed to Mediation before the Honorable Robert Rickles- retired.

RESULT:  The County of Orange paid $100,000.00 to plaintiff and waived $1,300.00 in medical bills that involved plaintiff D.M.'s treatment in jail.
